(feel free to forward/re-post as necessary)
It has been brought to our attention that there is a certain scrap artist who has a commercial site (she sells her scrap kits), who has a "deal" running with tut-writers that they can have her kits for free if they write a tutorial with her scraps, and thereby promoting the sale of her kits. The deal goes, you get a free commercial kit, write the tut, show her and then you can pick your next kit, write another tut and so on, in an on-going cycle.
I want to clarify that this is NOT ok with AMI's TOU. This is considered bartering. This is basically saying, "I will trade you this service, for that service."
The scrap artist is within her full rights to do this, as she is merely gaining promotion, but for the tut writers trading their service for these kits, this is a direct violation of our terms of use and is not acceptable. All other licensing companies have the same statement in their terms as well, that their artwork may not be used for "bartering" purposes, this is not just AMI.
If you are a tut writer who is or who will be taking part of this "deal", please be advised that you may not use your AMI licensed artwork to fulfill your end of the agreement.
Thanks for understanding. Any questions regarding this should be directed to our customer service department.
Please note: this is not to be confused with another recent situation of a scrap artist using her/his own kits in tutorials, this is strictly regarding the trading of services (the scraps being traded for the tutorials).
